Beauty: Simple Hydrating Gel Booster

I'm going to rightly admit that when it comes to skin care, I have all the gear but no idea. It's true!
Even when I'm staying at a friend's house I will take wipes, lotions and potions so it looks like I know what I'm doing and that I look after my skin. However, when I'm home it's a different story and all I want to do is get into bed quickly.

In all honesty though, I have been incredibly lucky with my skin. I would occasionally have a spot or two, but apart from that I wouldn't experience any oily t-zones or dry patches. My skin was as soft as anything. But in the last three years or so, this hasn't been the case and I've noticed dry, flaky and also oily patches.

Because of this I did the stupid thing of self diagnosing myself with our lovely friend, Google and nearly every site told me that I had combination skin - whether this is true or not I don't think I will ever know!  Since then I've been using Clarins Matte Lotion but this wasn't doing the job fully and I was getting more and more self conscious with my skin.

I had heard about the Hydrating Booster range from Simple, especially their gel booster which is supposed to give you this added extra protection so to speak.

I bought the product in my local supermarket (I know, not exactly Selfridges) for £6.95. What completely threw me was the size of the bottle, only 25ml! I tried telling myself that if it's a booster than I'll be using just a small amount so it should last me a reasonable time, right?

Anyway, the Simple Hydrating Gel Booster can be used in three ways; as a primer, a moisturiser on its own or a booster underneath your own moisturiser.
I decided to go with the latter and try underneath my moisturiser. I must admit the actual product reminds of Calpol - the colour and consistency, not the flavour!
I used a small pea size amount and applied to the areas that really needed it. It went on as smooth as anything, no stickiness, no greasy fingers. It just glided on and you really felt like your skin was taking it in, feeling hydrated.
I applied my moisturiser and went about my day.

I'm happy to say that after a full nine hours at work my skin was not flaky at all and after a month of using it when I needed it the most, I love this product and would highly recommend to people who need that little extra boost of hydration. It's become a staple in my makeup bag.
It may be a small bottle and it will be interesting to see how long it lasts with me, but it really does what it says.

Have you tried the Simple Hydration Gel Booster? I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below.
